President Biden’s administration had already announced it would not extend the program in October of 2024.
The Department of Homeland Security announced that it will proceed with ending the Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela (CHNV) parole program that was put in place by President Biden’s administration. In October of 2024, the prior administration had reported that it would not extend the program. The end of the program will occur on April 24 and immigrants who are enrolled are expected to leave the United States by that deadline.
“Parolees without a lawful basis to remain in the United States following this termination of the CHNV parole programs must depart the United States before their parole termination date,” the notice published in the Federal Register said.
The previous administration instituted the CHNV immigration program in 2022, allowing migrants and family members to enter the United States if they had American sponsors. Over 530,000 migrants are enrolled in this program.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump as he works to ensure border and national security.
- For Secretary Noem to receive God’s wisdom as she heads the Department of Homeland Security.
- For border patrol officers and agents as they work alongside U.S. military personnel to safeguard the nation’s territory.
